Suffolk Coast Business Event 2016: ‘Routes to Market’
The 2016 Suffolk Coast Business flagship event, sponsored by Ensors, Suffolk Coastal District Council and Marshall Hatchick, was held at Ufford Park Hotel and Spa, Woodbridge on 23rd March.
The event got off to an exciting start with keynote speaker Minnie Moll, Joint Chief Executive of The East of England Coop. Minnie talked to the group about Local Values and the Co-op’s Sourced Locally Campaign; she gave top tips to consider when thinking about your route to market, these included her ‘3 Ps’: Product, Passion and Perseverance; Minnie also took questions from the floor.
This energy continued as the event moved into a ‘speed-dating’ session, where delegates were guided round the exhibition stands in groups to hear bite size business booster tips from each stand holder. This proved to be the highlight of the day for many stand holders and exhibitors; the stand holders were able to interact with every delegate who attended and the delegates heard information from stands with whom they wouldn’t ordinarily have connected. One delegate commented: ‘[this] was an inspired way of introducing us all to people, businesses and ideas that we may never have considered visiting.’
There were plenty of networking opportunities, plus two useful workshops delivered by David Miles, from Business Training made Simple and Fiona Hotston Moore of Ensors.
The event survey reported that 100% of delegates found the event met their expectations with 92.5% rating is either good or excellent in terms of relevance and value for money. Everyone who attended left with at least one new contact with over 50% leaving with 5 or more. Jenny Stockman, Fresh Aspirations Forum said ‘I left with at least three extremely useful new leads, another three good contacts to hold in my back pocket, a signpost to someone who should be able to give me further advice in a specialized area of my business and a head full of inspiration about the value of association, affiliation, partnerships and co-operative working.’
