We have been successful in securing funds from the Suffolk Coastal District Council Community Revenue Grant Scheme and are already progressing with our plans to develop a Community Events Manual. This project will enable direct and sustainable support to be provided to groups within the member associations which have a need for assistance in planning and holding events for their individual communities.
We are very happy to announce that the project will be realised with training from Event Management professionals from the University of Suffolk. The first of the collaborative two hour workshops will take place on Wednesday 2nd November 2016 at the Long Shop Museum, Leiston .
Titled ‘The SMART approach to Event Management‘, the workshop will give advice on where to begin when planning any event and the steps required to assure the event’s successful and safe execution.
The workshops will be comprehensive and interactive and at the end of the session delegates will have learnt about:
- Feasibility analysis of an event
- Putting together the mission, vision and SMART Objectives for the event
- Simple budgeting
- Event Marketing
Plus be equipped with an event planning checklist.
The second workshop to be held on Wednesday 30th November 2016 also at the Long Shop Museum will cover Event Safety including possible problems, safety and contingency plans, and risk assessment. Updates on the progress of the project will be posted regularly.
